BACILLUS THURINGIENSIS
INTRODUCTION

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is a bacterium that is found naturally in the soil and is known to cause illness in various insect larvae, including caterpillars of pest species such as Gypsy moth, spruce budworm, cabbage looper amongst others. Some formulations can be used on essentially all food Crops. The "kurstaki" strain (Btk) is the most commonly used strain of BT and is used for caterpillar control. Bacillus thuringiensis has gained in prominence amongst organic growers over the last few years mainly due to its non toxic and non residual properties. BT is known to break down quickly in the environment and is considered perfectly safe for use in all crops.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Falcon international offers the "kurstaki" strain (Btk) of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). We offer the product in formulations of 16,000 IU/mg and 32,000 IU/mg. Both the formulations are offered as Sprayable Powders. The product is available in various pack sizes, in attractive trilaminated pouch packing, with customer specific labels and / or printing.

MODE OF ACTION

The protein crystal produced by Bt- k includes a substance known as a delta-endotoxin which is toxic to members of the Order Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies). Endospores of Bt-k are also toxic to the caterpillars of many moths and butterflies. The spores and endotoxins in the protein crystal are known as the "active ingredients" in Bt-k formulations, because it is these ingredients which kill the insects.

NEEM
INTRODUCTION

Insects become increasingly resistant against traditional pesticides. The costs for developing a new pesticide are high. Moreover, many people all over the world are becoming aware of the fact that food, which is treated with pesticides, is not healthy. New, more environmentally sound pesticides are needed. A promising option are extracts of the neem tree, which is why the United Nations declared the neem tree as the "Tree of the 21st century".

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Azadirachtin is the active ingredient derived from the NEEM tree. Falcon International offers the following formulations of Azadirachtin;

MODE OF ACTION

Neem is known since centuries for its natural and comprehensive pest control properties. Indian farmers have been using neem as insecticide for a long time based on traditional knowledge. For example, it was a common practice in rural India to improve the storage of grains by mixing the grain with dried neem leaves.

Neem cake is applied to rice and sugarcane fields against stem borers and white ants since 1930. The mixing of neem leave (2-5%) with rice, wheat and other grains is still practised in some parts of India and Pakistan and farmers in India still put green twigs and leaves in rice nursery beds to produce robust seedling and simultaneously ward-off attack by early pests-leafhoppers, planthoppers, and whorl maggots.

In the 1960s Indian scientists reported the feeding deterrent property of neem seed kernel suspension against desert locust. Subsequently, several bioactive ingredients (particularly meliantriol and azadirachtin) were isolated from various parts of the tree. These findings aroused worldwide interest in the bioactivity of the neem tree.

Azadirachtin is extensively used for control of Thrips, Jassids, White Flies, Aphids, chewing pests like Helicoverpa, Spodoptera, Leaf folder, Stem borer, Fruit borer etc Azadirachtin is used on a wide range of crops such as Cotton, Chillies, Tea, Cardamom , Roses, Vegetables, Oil seeds, Pulses, Pomegranate, Grapes.

Dosage rate would vary according to the formulation concentration of Azadirachtin.

KARANJIN (DERRIS INDICA)
INTRODUCTION

KARANJIN is the active ingredient for this product which is supplied as a 2% Emulsifiable Concentrate formulation (20,000 ppm). Karanjin is the active ingredient which is derived as an extract of Derris Indica. Being a botanical extract of Derris indica, The product is non toxic to higher organisms like mammals and therefore a safe product to use.

Karanjin works as Acaricide (Miticide) and Insecticide. All varieties of Mites viz. red spider mites, scarlet mites, yellow mites, purple mites etc are effectively controlled by Karanjin. Tough to kill Armoured Scales are very well controlled by this product. Sucking insects like Thrips, Jassids, Aphids and Whiteflies are also controlled.

BEAUVERIA BASSIANA

Falcon International offers Beauveria Bassiana in a free flowing powder formulation, containing 1 x 10 9 colony forming units (CFU) / gram on a Talc base. The product is offered in a wide variety of pack sizes, as per the customer's requirement.

MODE OF ACTION

Beauveria Bassiana is a entamopathogenic fungi, which causes the white muscadine disease in various insect pests. Its spores on contact with the cuticle of susceptible insects, grow directly through the cuticle into the inner body of the host, producing toxins, draining the host of nutrients and finally killing the host. Once the host dies, the fungus grows out through the soft part of the cuticle, forming a layer of white mold, which gives the name white muscadine disease.

Beauveria Bassiana is ideal for the control of pests like Helicoverpa, Spodoptera, Leaf folder, Stem borer, Fruit borer, stem borers, leaf eating caterpillers etc. on a wide variety of crops such as Rice, Cotton, Vegetables, Chillies, Oil seeds, Pulses, Tea, Cardamom etc.

PRODUCT DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Product has to be sprayed at the rate of 5 to 7 grams in one liter of water. Since the product has to come in contact with the pests, repeated sprays are recommended.

METARHIZIUM ANISOPLIAE

PRODUCT INFORMATION

METARHIZIUM Anisopliae being a microbial origin product has virulent spores adsorbed to the carrier / neutral material. The spores remain either dormant or active on the carrier particles and start multiplying when congenial environmental conditions are met with.

MODE OF ACTION

The product is dissolved in water and applied to the soil by drenching. The humidity in soil provides an ideal condition for germination of spores and the mycelia start growing. The soil borne insect like termites come in contact with the fungus and the mycelia of fungus starts growing on the body of termites and thus pathogenicity starts on Termites. The fungal mycelia starts feeding on the body fluid of insects and results in disease and death of the insect pest.

METARHIZIUM Anisopliae is highly effective on Termites and other soil borne pests and can be used on a wide variety of plants. The product is highly effective when used as a TErmiticide in new constructions as well as existing building sites.

PRODUCT DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

METARHIZIUM Anisopliae is recommended at dilution of 500g/200 litres for drenching the seedling pits for orchard crops. Similar dilution is recommended for drenching existing trees also. In case of filed crops, the filed has to be first irrigated & then the filed be drenched/sprayed with same dilution of 500g/200 lt of water.

VETICILLIUM LECANII

Verticillium Lecanii being a microbial origin product has virulent spores adsorbed to the carrier / neutral material. The spores remain either dormant or active on the carrier particles and start multiplying when congenial environmental conditions are met with.

MODE OF ACTION

The sticky fungal spores of this fungi invade and grow on the body of the susceptible insect, consuming the host’s internal organs. The fungal growth eventually leads to the host’s death.
